Birbal’s Clever Answer – The Roaring Surprise!

Once upon a time, Birbal, a clever man, was not in the king’s court. Some ministers wanted to make the king think less of Birbal, so they said bad things about him to the king. One minister said, “King, you always give important jobs to Birbal and listen to his advice. It seems like you think we are not good enough. But that’s not true! We can do great things too.”

The king liked Birbal a lot and didn’t want to hear bad things about him. But he wanted to make the ministers feel better. So he said, “I have a question for all of you. But remember, you must give the right answer. I don’t want any quick or wrong answers.”

The ministers agreed to the king’s condition, even though they were not sure they could find the right answer. They asked the king for a few days to think.

Days went by, but the ministers couldn’t find the answer to the king’s question. They started to worry about what would happen if they couldn’t find the answer. They didn’t know what else to do, so they went to Birbal and told him everything. Birbal already knew about their problem and said, “I can help you, but you must do as I say.” The ministers agreed.

The next day, Birbal arranged a special carriage called a palanquin. He asked two ministers to carry the palanquin, one to hold his smoking pipe, and another to carry his shoes. Birbal sat inside the palanquin, and they all headed toward the king’s court.

When they arrived, everyone was surprised to see Birbal in the palanquin. Before the king could ask anything, Birbal spoke up, “King, the greatest thing in the world is ‘roar.’ It’s because of my powerful roar that these people carried me here.”

The king couldn’t help but smile, and the ministers felt embarrassed.

What we learned from the story:

This story teaches us that we should never feel jealous of others’ abilities. Instead, we should learn from them and try to become better ourselves.
